Rumored LEGO Toys-To-Life Video Game

It’s rumored that Warner Bros. and LEGO are working together on a new toys-to-life video game coming out later this year. LEGO would be making the physical toys while Warner Bros. developer, Traveller’s Tales would be making the actual games that bring the toys to life. Traveller’s Tales as many of you know is behind current popular LEGO video games like LEGO Jurassic World.

If you aren’t familiar with the toys-to-life concept, it’s where you place a physical object onto a sensor and the object shows up on the television screen. Current popular toys-to-life brands include Skylanders, Disney Infinity and Amiibos. If this rumor turns out to be true, we should find out more during the E3 convention in June.

Next LEGO Castle Theme Rumored For 2016

An interesting rumor popped up on Eurobricks. According to BrickJagger, he was told by a store manager that a fantasy inspired LEGO Castle theme would make a return in late 2015 or early 2016. We’ll have to wait for more information but it’s fun to speculate in the meantime.

Even without a rumor, there are some factors that could make a 2016 LEGO Castle theme possible. If you look back as past LEGO Castle releases, you’ll notice that a new Castle theme comes out about once every 3 years. With the last version out in 2013, we should be due a new version around 2016.

LEGO Knight’s Kingdom I – Released in 2000
LEGO Knight’s Kingdom II – Released in 2004
LEGO Castle Fantasy Era – Released in 2007
LEGO Kingdoms – Released in 2010
LEGO Castle – Released in 2013

Another thing to consider is that there will be no future LEGO The Lord of the Ring or LEGO The Hobbit sets. The current sets will likely go out of print by the end of 2015. This means LEGO has free rein to make a fantasy theme set again in 2016.

Lastly, LEGO Elves is coming out this year. This new girl focused theme will have a lot of elf head molds. If there’s one thing LEGO likes, it’s reusing their molds in new colors. A new LEGO Castle theme would be a good opportunity for this.

As this rumor is early, please take it with a grain of salt. The possibility is there with several factors in its favor. Are you excited for a return to the LEGO Castle theme?

More LEGO Exclusive Sets Discovered (UCS Tie Fighter & Kwik-E-Mart)

There’s 2 more entries in the SpeelGoed NL database that should interest some of you. They have a listing for LEGO UCS TIE Fighter (75095) and another listing for an unnamed LEGO D2C (71016) set. For those that don’t know, D2C means direct to consumer and is LEGO’s naming for exclusive sets.

LEGO UCS TIE Fighter (75095) appears on SpeelGoed NL for €224,95 with an August 2015 release date. Because third party stores usually get the exclusives at least 3 months later, this puts the potential release date on the annual Star Wars day of May 4th.

Not much is known about LEGO D2C (71016), but we can take a guess based on it’s item number. Because the numbering is similar to LEGO The Simpsons House (71006), it’s likely the rumored Kwik-E-Mart. This set appears on SpeelGoed NL for €194,95 with an August 2015 release date.

LEGO Marvel UCS Helicarrier Coming In 2015?

LEGO is giving us a glimpse of the rumored LEGO Marvel UCS Helicarrier in their latest designer video for LEGO Creator Detective’s Office (10246). In the intro for the video within the “G”, you can see Marcos Bessa next to the front section of a helicarrier with what looks to be a mini Quinjet. As some of you may know, Marcos has been involved with great superhero sets like Quinjet Aerial Battle (6869) & The Milano Spaceship Rescue (76021).

New LEGO Scooby-Doo Theme Coming In 2015?

Rumors are surfacing of a new kid friendly monster theme coming mid next year. It appears to be Scooby-Doo based on postings from iso3200 on Brickset & Miniworld on Hoth Bricks. Potential sets mentioned include the Mystery Machine van, a haunted castle and another set featuring a Swamp Creature.

This seems credible since LEGO likes licensed properties that have a media component such as a TV show or movie. As it happens to be, there will be a new Scooby-Doo show coming next year on Cartoon Network called, Be Cool, Scooby-Doo! Character Building currently has the license but their licensing period may be ending soon. As always, until confirmed by LEGO, treat this as a rumor.

LEGO Jurassic World Video Game Rumored For 2015

According to Jurassicworld.org, a contract for a LEGO Jurassic Park video game is in the works. This information is based on an internal Toys R Us memo detailing merchandise plans to coincide with the release of the movie in 2015.

If this rumor turns out to be true, we’ll find out about it after the release of LEGO Batman 3: Beyond Gotham. Traveller’s Tales is focused on finishing up that title and would be assumed to be developing the Jurassic World game.

LEGO Jurassic World

It was initially thought that Hasbro had secured the construction toy license for Jurassic World. With the movie pushed back to 2015, speculation is the agreement expired and LEGO stepped in to secure it.

The star of the movie, Chris Pratt, talked about approving the look of his minifigure in a previous podcast. This is great news since the retired LEGO Dino sets from 2012 have skyrocketed in price.
